West Virginia, Pitt Split Week 10 EAGL Awards

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 13, 2012) – West Virginia junior Kaylyn Millick has been named the EAGL Gymnast of the Week. Mountaineer junior Alaska Richardson and Pitt senior Alicia Talucci were named co-Specialists of the Week, while Panther freshman Haley Bodenheimer earned her fourth EAGL Rookie of the Week award.

EAGL Gymnast of the Week – Kaylyn Millick, Junior, West Virginia

West Virginia junior Kaylyn Millick scored a career-best 39.175 and finished third overall in the Mountaineers’ upset victory over No. 8 Arkansas. The junior anchored the meet with a third place, 9.875 floor routine, a season-best mark and the second-highest awarded score. She also tied for second on bars with a 9.85 and finished fifth on beam with a 9.825. She opened the contest with a 9.625 vault score.

EAGL Co-Specialist of the Week – Alaska Richardson, Junior, West Virginia

West Virginia junior Alaska Richardson was strong in the Mountaineers’ upset win over No. 8 Arkansas. The junior tied the nation’s No. 1-ranked overall gymnast for first on floor with a career-best 9.9 score. She also tied for second place on vault and matched her season-best mark with a 9.875.

EAGL Co-Specialist of the Week – Alicia Talucci, Senior, Pittsburgh

Pitt senior Alicia Talucci earned a beam title and two second-place finishes against No. 12 Penn State. Her 9.85 on beam is her fifth 9.85-plus beam score this season. Her beam win came over the nation’s No. 2-ranked beam worker. She also finished second on floor with a career-high 9.9 and second on vault with a 9.85.

EAGL Rookie of the Week – Haley Bodenheimer, Freshman, Pittsburgh

Pitt freshman Haley Bodenheimer scores her fourth award of the season, second straight, after earning three career-best marks against No. 12 Penn State. She placed second in the all-around with a personal-best 39.325 mark, just .075 behind the No. 2-ranked all-arounder in the nation. Haley also tied her bars career mark and broke her career-best floor score with a 9.875. Haley scored at least a 9.8 on every event for the first time this season and earned a 39.0-plus for the second straight week.
